At Sonshine our goal is to provide quality early education in a loving, safe, and Christ-centered environment. We will make every effort to assist each of our students in developing their base education, both academically and spiritually, and the skills needed to thrive in all aspects of life. We understand that trust between teachers, caregivers, and parents is a must, and it will be one of our top goals to develop strong and healthy relationships with each of our Sonshine families. We believe that all of God’s children are worthy of love, respect, and invested time. We are prepared to take any and all necessary steps in developing a healthy view of Christ’s love in our students.
Sonshine Kids is located at 1953 Industrial Blvd. and serves children from 6 weeks through Pre-K during the school year, with care available up to 3rd grade in the summer. While we operate as one center, this location is made up of three separate suites that are internally connected. Each suite functions almost independently and is designed to meet the specific needs of a particular age group. Together, they form an infant center, a toddler center, and a preschool center. This age-focused structure allows us to create a learning environment that is intentionally designed around each stage of early childhood development.
Sonshine Kids 2 is located at 6000 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. In this building, age groups are mixed more than at our Industrial Blvd. location, but classrooms are thoughtfully arranged into wings that pair children of similar ages. This layout allows the space to be used most effectively while still maintaining developmentally appropriate care. At Sonshine Kids 2, we continue to specialize in each age group to ensure every child receives the highest level of care, attention, and support.
Our amazing staff. Without a doubt. We have been blessed beyond belief with the teachers and staff that the Lord has sent to work with us. We have a group of teachers who truly care for each of their students, and are willing to love them through the rough stuff. This compassionate care makes a world of difference in how a young child experiences the stress of having to be away for their primary caregivers. When there is an intentional effort being made to provide a loving, comfortable, and trustworthy environment, it shows!
Being blessed with compassionate caregivers allows us to implement what we refer to as our Compassionate Care Concepts, which include: Unconditional Positive Regard, Conscious Discipline, & focusing on embracing and helping children grow in 6 early childhood concepts that lay the foundation for development [adaptation, temperament, socialization, emotional intelligence, communication rules, & imagery].
